Komposisi partikel tanah ini mempengaruhi sifat fisik dan kimia tanah, seperti drainase, retensi air, kemampuan tukar kation, dan kemampuan aerasi. Tekstur tanah biasanya digambarkan dalam tiga kategori utama: pasir, lempung, dan liat.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Pasir: Tanah dengan tekstur pasir memiliki partikel pasir yang dominan. Partikel pasir cukup kasar dan berukuran antara 0,05 mm hingga 2 mm. Tanah pasir memiliki drainase yang sangat baik karena ruang antara partikel yang lebih besar memungkinkan air mengalir dengan mudah. Namun, kemampuan penahanan air dan kapasitas pertukaran kationnya rendah.<\/li>\n<li>Lempung: Tanah dengan tekstur lempung terdiri dari partikel lempung yang dominan. Partikel lempung sangat halus, dengan ukuran kurang dari 0,002 mm. Tanah lempung memiliki kapasitas penahanan air yang tinggi karena partikel-partikel lempung yang kecil dapat menahan air dengan baik. Namun, drainasenya buruk dan tanah lempung cenderung menjadi padat dan retak ketika kering.<\/li>\n<li>Liat: Tanah dengan tekstur liat memiliki proporsi partikel liat yang tinggi. Liat adalah partikel tanah yang lebih kecil dari lempung, dengan ukuran di bawah 0,002 mm. Tanah liat memiliki kemampuan penahanan air yang tinggi dan kapasitas pertukaran kation yang tinggi. Namun, drainase tanah liat sangat lambat dan tanah liat cenderung menjadi padat dan retak saat kering.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Selain tiga kategori utama di atas, ada juga tekstur tanah campuran, di mana kombinasi partikel pasir, lempung, dan liat ditemukan dalam proporsi yang berbeda.
